Product Information

The Stentor Elysia ‘English model’ cello is part of Stentor’s high-grade orchestral range, crafted in a specialist workshop within the Stentor factory. Skilled luthiers, working under the supervision of a master maker, create these instruments using traditional methods that have been passed down through generations. The result is a finely crafted cello with exceptional tone and playability.

This model features a 29" (737mm) back length with a rib depth 10mm smaller than a standard full-size cello, offering a more comfortable playing experience without compromising volume or tonal depth. The instrument is finished with a hand-applied traditional shellac varnish and fitted with Pirastro professional-quality strings, enhancing its sound and response.

Features:
✔ Hand-carved from solid tonewoods
Selected spruce front for resonance and clarity
Figured maple back, ribs, and neck for tonal depth
Inlaid purfling for structural integrity
Traditional shellac varnish for a refined finish
Ebony fingerboard and pegs for durability and smooth playability
Fitted with Pirastro strings for a professional sound

A superb choice for advancing players, the Stentor Elysia offers a balance of craftsmanship, comfort, and rich tonal quality.

Cello Care Tips

To keep your cello in great condition and ensure it maintains its best sound, we recommend the following care tips:

  • Storage: Always store your cello in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity, as these can affect the wood.

  • Cleaning: Clean your cello regularly with a soft cloth to remove dust and rosin build-up. Be careful not to touch the varnish with your fingers.

  • String Care: Check your strings for wear and replace them when necessary. Avoid over-tightening the strings, as this can cause unnecessary stress on the instrument.

  • Bow Maintenance: Loosen the bow hair after playing and wipe the stick with a dry, soft cloth to remove rosin dust, preventing build-up and protecting the finish.
