Our Classic Viola Rental Package is the perfect starting point for new viola players. Designed for beginners working through the early grades, this hand-carved viola offers a warm, balanced tone and reliable playability, helping students to build good technique from the very beginning.

Crafted from quality spruce and maple, with ebony fittings for durability and stability, this viola is easy to tune and comfortable to handle. The outfit includes a hardwood bow with a half-mounted ebony frog, a padded case with rucksack straps and high-visibility safety features, and rosin.

Each instrument is professionally set up at our Billinghay workshop, ensuring a smooth, even tone and an excellent playing experience straight out of the case.

Each rental outfit includes:

• Hand-carved maple and spruce viola with ebony fingerboard and pegs

• Carbon fibre bow with ebony frog

• Padded case with rucksack straps and reflective safety stripes

• Light Amber Rosin

Rental Terms:

• Minimum rental period: 6 months

• Proof of address and a valid photo ID are required

• A rental agreement must be completed and signed before dispatch (we’ll send this to you separately)

Professional Set-Up

At Bridge Street Violins, we offer a comprehensive professional setup that goes above and beyond the basic factory setup provided by most other shops. Each instrument is carefully adjusted by our expert luthier to ensure optimal sound and playability. Depending on the instrument, this setup may include:

• Peg adjustment

• Fingerboard resurfacing (if necessary)

• Top nut adjustment

• Sound post and bridge fitting

• String height adjustments

• Tailored settings for enhanced playing comfort

This service ensures your instrument is fully prepared for high-quality performance, tailored to your individual needs. It’s a level of care that sets us apart from other retailers who typically offer a basic factory setup.

What Happens When I Order?

Once we receive your order, our luthier Laurentius will personally get in touch to introduce himself, discuss your specific requirements and guide you through the next steps. We’ll also prepare your rental agreement and send it to you via email.

Please Note: We cannot process any special orders or dispatch rental outfits until the signed rental agreement is returned, proof of address and a valid photo ID have been supplied.

How Long Will My Order Take to Arrive?

Postage Options

Once the instrument is perfectly set up, we’ll ship it within Great Britain. Due to some limitations on our platform, postage charges are invoiced separately. We’ll provide delivery options once your order is confirmed. Alternatively, you can collect your instrument free of charge from our workshop near Lincoln. Rentals are only available in Great Britain and can’t be shipped overseas or taken out of the country by our renters, but we’re glad to assist with any questions you might have, wherever you’re based.

Paying Rent

The price listed on this page is the monthly rental amount. By selecting this rental package, you’re setting up an automatic monthly recurring payment, which will be deducted from your bank account on the same day each month. The minimum rental period is 6 months, after which the agreement will continue on a rolling month-to-month basis.

Note: While rental prices may increase due to inflation, you can rest assured that your monthly payment will never change mid-contract or during the rolling month-to-month period.

What Happens if You Want to Buy Your Instrument?

You can purchase any rental viola outright. Simply visit our shop for more details on the instrument’s product page. If you decide to buy your rental instrument or upgrade to a different one, we offer a 50% discount on up to one year’s rent as a loyalty bonus. This discount can be claimed up to 6 months after you return your rental. Terms & Conditions apply
