The saddle plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of your instrument and facilitating proper sound transmission. Over time, saddles can become worn, loose, or damaged, potentially leading to issues such as cracks in the top plate or compromised tonal quality.​

Our saddle replacement service involves the removal of the existing saddle, careful preparation of the area, and the crafting and fitting of a new ebony saddle tailored to your instrument's specifications. This process ensures a secure fit and helps prevent future structural issues.​

This service includes:

• Assessment and removal of the existing saddle

• Cleaning and preparation of the saddle area

• Hand-carving a new ebony saddle to match your instrument

• Precise fitting and gluing of the new saddle

• Final adjustments to ensure optimal performance

Availability: This service is available at our Billinghay workshop.
Post-in service: Instruments can be posted to us at the owner's risk. All shipping costs must be covered by the customer.​

Packaging guidelines:

• Loosen the strings slightly before packing

• Wrap the instrument in acid-free tissue paper or silk before adding padding

• Never allow bubble wrap to touch the varnish directly

• Use a hard case or a well-padded box

• Clearly label the package as FRAGILE
