Vintage cello of German origin, ca. 1920, made after a Stradivari pattern, characterized by an accessible top width, nice waist and lower bout built for projection.
Labelled Jul. Heinrich Zimmermann, who built instruments in Marktneukirchen and had shops in Leipzig & St. Petersburg to sell his German workshop made instruments. This instrument is no. 4764 according to the label inside.
Front is of medium wide, strongly grained spruce
Neck, ribs and two-piece back in Maple
Measuring 757mm on the back, string stop at the bridge position is at 402mm and neck length is 285mm, resulting in an active string length of 700mm
The instrument gained its full potential and has a clear, strong and balanced sound.
