Product Information

The Laurentius Huige 2013 Violin is a beautiful instrument crafted from Bosnian flamed maple for the back, neck, and ribs, all from the same tree, with an evenly grained spruce top sourced from the Alps. This violin is based on Antonio Stradivari's 'Messiah' model from the PG mould, known for its superior craftsmanship and tonal qualities.

The sound is warm, matured, and balanced, with a depth of character that makes it ideal for both solo and orchestral settings. The violin is fitted with ebony fittings and Pirastro Evah Pirazzi strings for strong projection and clear, resonant sound.

The varnish on this violin is a luscious amber-brown with red undertones, applied over a deep yellow ground. The layers of varnish are composed of water-based grounds, a spirit-based colour layer, and a durable oil-based top layer, ensuring both a rich aesthetic and long-lasting protection.

This violin has a history of performance, having been played in the 'Scratch Messiah' from G. F. Händel in Vlissingen, the Netherlands, and subsequently toured through Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, and Switzerland. Now, it has returned to the UK, looking for its forever home.

Violin Care Tips

To keep your violin in great condition and ensure it maintains its best sound, we recommend the following care tips:

  • Storage: Always store your violin in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity, as these can affect the wood.

  • Cleaning: Clean your violin regularly with a soft cloth to remove dust and rosin build-up. Be careful not to touch the varnish with your fingers.

  • String Care: Check your strings for wear and replace them when necessary. Avoid over-tightening the strings, as this can cause unnecessary stress on the instrument.

  • Bow Maintenance: Loosen the bow hair after playing and wipe the stick with a dry, soft cloth to remove rosin dust, preventing build-up and protecting the finish.
