Product Information

The Ludensian Violin, meaning “from Louth,” is a beautifully crafted late 19th-century German workshop instrument, now available for sale through Bridge Street Violins on behalf of the Louth and District Concert Society (LDCS). All proceeds will support LDCS, a charity dedicated to bringing professional concerts and community musical events to Louth.

Inspired by Amati patterns, this violin features wide and sonorous upper and lower bouts, producing a rich and balanced tone. Measuring 356mm on the back, with a 194mm bridge position, 130mm neck length, and 329mm active string length, it offers excellent projection and responsiveness, making it an ideal choice for concert performances and chamber music. Easy to play and highly approachable, this instrument is well-suited for both advanced students and professional musicians.

Currently, this violin is on loan to a violinist preparing for the LDCS March concert, demonstrating its capability for performance at a professional level. An unedited sound recording is available for those interested in hearing its pure, natural tone.

Violin Care Tips

To keep your violin in great condition and ensure it maintains its best sound, we recommend the following care tips:

  • Storage: Always store your violin in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity, as these can affect the wood.

  • Cleaning: Clean your violin regularly with a soft cloth to remove dust and rosin build-up. Be careful not to touch the varnish with your fingers.

  • String Care: Check your strings for wear and replace them when necessary. Avoid over-tightening the strings, as this can cause unnecessary stress on the instrument.

  • Bow Maintenance: Regularly check the tension of the bow and keep it properly tightened when not in use. Always re-hair the bow when necessary to maintain smooth performance.
