Product Information

Dark Rosins are usually softer and a bit ‘stickier’, creating a rich and articulate sound and is suitable for temperate to colder climates. Dark rosin is sticky because it is harvested in summer, when the tree is working hard and the sap flows easily like fresh honey. Naturally, dark rosin melts easier in warm weather. Dark rosins create more sticking power to the string which is great news for bigger instruments and it could also be a solution for the violin if you have a whistling e-string as it takes less friction of the hair on the string to melt the rosin which grips the string.

Hidersine Rosin is made from a carefully selected blend of wax and pine resin.

In order to create the rosin, the selected blend of ingredients are heated carefully, allowing the wax and resin to melt and mix together.

Once the rosin is to temperature it is poured by into a small pouring jug and then poured directly into the mould which has already been placed on the Hidersine branded cloth.

Whilst the rosin is still in the mould, they are flamed to remove any surface imperfections.

The rosin is still made in the same way, using the same recipe that was first developed by Francis Hider, almost 100 years ago. In doing so, a handmade, authentic and artisan connection is delivered to the product and to the musicians who use it.#
