Product Information
We offer professional cello bridge fitting at our Billinghay workshop, tailored to the needs of your instrument and playing style. Each bridge is expertly shaped, adjusted, and custom fitted for both the width of your cello and the arching of the top plate, ensuring optimal sound transmission and playability.
This service includes:
Removal of the existing bridge (if present)
Careful inspection of the cello’s top and setup
Custom fitting of the new bridge to match the feet width and top arch of your instrument
Trimming and shaping for the best possible tone, projection, and responsiveness
Final adjustments to height, string spacing, and alignment
Bridge options available:
Primavera
Despiau D
Despiau C
Despiau B
Despiau A
The price includes the selected bridge blank. (Please note: the Prima bridge shown is a violin bridge and only represents the quality of the cello version. It is not an image of the actual cello bridge.)
Bridge quality refers to the blank’s characteristics, such as wood type, density, cut, size, drying time, and stiffness.
You may also choose between a French or Belgian bridge cut. The French model, with its shorter legs and central heart, is often associated with a more balanced and warmer sound. The Belgian model, with longer legs and a repositioned heart, may help certain instruments achieve greater power and projection. Not all instruments will benefit from a Belgian cut bridge—selecting the right model depends on the tone you want to promote. A naturally bright instrument might suit a French bridge, while a warmer-sounding cello could benefit from a Belgian cut.
