Product Information
We offer professional double bass bridge fitting at our Billinghay workshop. Each bridge is custom fitted to your instrument’s specific width and top arch to ensure a strong, stable fit and excellent tonal results.
This service includes:
Removal of the existing bridge (if present)
Inspection of the top arch and current setup
Careful fitting of the bridge feet to match your bass
Trimming and shaping of the bridge for optimal sound, projection, and playability
Final adjustments for bridge height, string spacing, and alignment
The price includes your chosen bridge blank. Bridge quality refers to characteristics such as the type of wood, grain density, cut, size, drying time, and stiffness. High-quality blanks allow for more precise shaping and tonal refinement.
All-wood bridges offer a distinct tonal advantage over those with adjustable feet. While bridges with adjusters can be convenient, a well-fitted solid bridge typically provides better resonance and response.
You may choose between a French or Belgian bridge cut:
French cut: Shorter legs with a centrally placed heart, often associated with a more balanced, warmer tone.
Belgian cut: Longer legs and repositioned heart, which may help produce a more powerful sound. However, not all instruments benefit from a Belgian cut—a naturally bright or brash instrument might be better served by a French model, while a warmer instrument may respond well to the Belgian shape.
Availability: This service is only available in person at our Billinghay workshop.
Post-in service is not available for double bass bridge replacement due to the size and fragility of the instrument.
