Product Information
A well-cut bridge is essential for the tone, response, and playability of your violin. Over time, bridges can warp, become too low, or develop grooves that affect the sound and string height. If a bridge is damaged or no longer performing as it should, a full replacement is often the best solution.
This service includes:
Careful removal of the existing bridge
Selection of a high-quality maple blank, suited to your instrument
Precision fitting of the feet to match the arching of your violin’s top plate
Shaping of the upper curve to ensure correct string height and spacing
Tonal trimming to optimise the bridge’s performance for clarity, balance, and projection
The feet of the new bridge are fitted to match the exact contour of your violin’s belly, ensuring full contact for optimal sound transmission. We then shape the top of the bridge to support the correct playing action and comfortable string spacing. The bridge is trimmed and finished by hand to bring out the best in your instrument's tone.
We can also accommodate your individual playing preferences where needed — whether you're after a slightly lower action for ease of play or a setup designed for more powerful projection.
Please note:
This service is only available through our Billinghay workshop. Instruments may be posted to us at the owner's risk, and return postage will be charged separately.
